Commitment expectations
for competitive teams
BYSA is committed to providing a positive and inclusive experience for all players, regardless of age, ability, or experience level. We welcome and encourage participation at all levels of play. However, to support the development of cohesive, competitive teams — particularly at higher levels — player commitment and attendance at practices and games are essential.
General participation
- All players, regardless of their level of commitment or ability, are welcome and encouraged to participate in BYSA programs.
Commitment expectations for competitive teams
- Players selected for our top MTOC teams or the Grade 3/4 ECYSA travel team are expected to make BYSA their primary extracurricular commitment outside of academic and religious obligations.
Minimum requirements
1/week
Attendance average of at least one practice per week
5 of 8
Participation in a minimum of 5 out of 8 scheduled games per season
Team placement considerations
- If a player is unable to meet the above commitment expectations, they are still encouraged to participate in BYSA programs and will be placed on a team that best fits their availability and developmental needs.
- If a player commits to a competitive team but cannot meet the commitment requirements, families are expected to notify the appropriate Travel Director as soon as possible.
- All players who do not meet the attendance and participation expectations after committing to a team will still be encouraged to play BYSA, but their team placement for the following seasons may be impacted.
