Dear BYSA Families,

As an organization, the safety and well-being of our players, coaches, refs and families is always our top priority.  In light of the expanding COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic and the increasing cancelations associated with it, we wanted to provide an update on our current season status and plan moving forward into the Spring season.

At present, we have no imminent plans to cancel or postpone the start of our BYSA-run spring program offerings, and have not received guidance from either Mass Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) or Essex County Youth Soccer Association (ECYSA) that they intend to postpone or cancel any part of the spring season.  That said, the situation is fluid, and we will continue to monitor and adhere to the guidance of public health officials, the city, and our upstream soccer organizations.

Because the situation is fluid, and in the interest of giving ourselves the best possible chance of getting the kids (safely) on the field, we intend to wait as long as reasonably possible before moving forward with any cancelations or postponements.

When it comes to registration, we understand that families may – understandably – also want to adopt this ‘wait and see’ approach.  For that reason, we’re making a a few temporary changes around spring registration…

  • In-town (Pre-K through Grade 4) registration will remain open through at least April 1.
  • We are waiving our wait-list fees for late registrants though April 1st, and refunding the fee for any child registered between March 1 and today
  • Full refunds will be offered for any families in our in-town programs who feel uncomfortable with their child’s participation in spring soccer due to COVID-19 concerns

In summary, we’re continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation with an eye towards safety, as well as a commitment to doing everything possible to allow the kids of Beverly to get outside and play – SAFELY – this spring.  We’ll keep you posted, as our schedule and timelines may change.  In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
